Some company sold a Cruze based EV as a Chevy? Wow.

Shame. It could have been an EV that didn’t look like an EV before people realized not every EV  needs to look like an EV.

Part of the problem, of course, is that inefficiency is much more obvious to an EV buyer than to an ICE buyer, because of the whole range anxiety thing.

So that means an EV needs to be aerodynamic.

Honestly, some of this just needed aerodynamic styling to become mainstream - I’d actually argue that the only reason that Teslas look like EVs is because they don’t have grilles (and the Model S had a fake grille at launch), and because Tesla has a specific design language that’s so obviously Tesla. But, that only worked because the 2005 CLS-Class and 2006 Civic blazed the trail of extremely streamlined designs not specifically intended for maximum efficiency...

Not all super aerodynamic cars look like EVs and and vice versa, but yes, EVs need to be able to slip through the air. The Cruze was actually a pretty good base for a car to EV-ify. Floor munted battery packs would still allow ample headroom because of the tall greenhouse, the car is pretty aerodynamic, and it really can function exactly as a normal car without some weird EV stigma. The grille is already 80% blocked off so just block the whole thing off and leave it.

You do have a good point about it though.
